One can not ignore the single tone that can be heard by everyone that bothers to listen.   We are Hungarian, and we will be free and self governing.  A thousand years ago this voice was carried by a single individual and agreed with by all.  Then, as now, threats of attack, ruin, and the possibility of cultural extinction and history, are set in motion by a single a tone.

We are Hungarian, we are in Christ, and we will prevail.   Our beloved King Saint Stephen set in motion an attitude, an imprint of who we are.  A thousand years ago the chaos that was destroying us was lain aside by the bravery of this great good man who finding Christ became in grace the architect of that garden that is our Hungary.  Though a thousand years have come and gone, has so much really changed in our hearts, in our minds?

Who we were, who we are and where we are tomorrow and the next day and the next has already been so easily written and choreographed in our history, in our faith in the living God that saved us from Chaos.  We have already celebrated our wonderful future.  And all of us know in our hearts the outcome of the horror and suffering like our beloved Jesus whipped beyond recognition suffering for the total and the greatest unselfish gift man kind has ever been given, provided us with the permanent solution of peaceful coexistence with our brothers and sisters.  Never did he teach us to lash out or to harm anyone.  Our Hungarian spirit has always been influenced by our inner grace taught to us so long ago.

A thousand years ago these values, our values, the world's values in different languages, cultures, and influences but always the same; like a single note, a harmonic sound with no borders, no races, neither war nor dictators, nor cruelties inflicted upon each other through ignorance and pain were found a thousand years ago by our King, Saint Stephen and lit this light and set this tone.   It helped us, it saved us, it made us who we are.   And I am not ashamed to admit that we found our light born of a virgin who's life was mostly pain and chaos and at the end the last words of this our savior "forgive them for they know not what they do."  Those simple words do they not define all of us at the end of our day?

Looking back at the history of our Hungary, the blood and the pain everyone always pulling as much of us as can be done in every direction, I see each government, ideology always trying to bend, break, control, rule and change our belief in Jesus Christ, our thousand year old crown with the cross of his blood and sacrifice the focal point for whatever ruler, potentate or elected official be reminded of this gentle man and of how our culture, our Hungarian culture is forever made and created in our faith in our Jesus Christ. This time is no different than a thousand years ago, standing on a belief and a mythical and amazing word that is faith.   We have been whipped, shot, and beaten.   We have even stood upon the presuppose of the always outer controlling influence wishing to strip us of even our language.   And all of these would be conquerors have come and gone, and yes, we Hungarians took the best of their culture and tried in our Christian courtesy to show and demonstrate the best of what they had to offer in art, architecture, and even in the temples synagogues and mosques, after all the Hungarian spirit has always been liberal as is our Christian belief to be in grace is to be kind and open to all around us.

We are after all the hub of the wheel of Europe.  And now as a thousand years ago, a choice of what and who we are again is to be tested, and we have no recourse nor course of action other than that which we had chosen so long ago in our beloved crown our King Our Faith.  Europe has grown and changed through all the wars a unity in blood, a quiet voice of collective Europe has grown with its individual cultures, languages and integrity to share a European connection as a whole.  Dare I say a collective state of Christian values and ancient cultural differences beginning to be resolved.  And in that do we Hungarians bring about some false and wholly out of our cultural soul some government flung on us by the great sadness of the growing 20th Century to now the 21st Century where comments by anyone concerning their love of Christ is questioned with a raised brow and the question of anyone else's faith flung upon us while trying to preserve our Christian belief system is fraught with the negative input of whole untrue and cruel accusation?

From the blood and sorrow of two great wars and deliberate division of our great nation, Hungary, due to an alleged need to be separate in ones own garden, the Hungarian people have been deprived of their own magnificent tapestry of religious, cultural and historic freedoms represented by the constitutional monarchy.  I believe the new countries formed from the sadness of the end of the 20th century are, and forever will be, a commonwealth, beloved brothers sisters and cousins and that we our commonwealth of diversity peoples, ideals hopes and dreams will endure and survive as we always have regardless of those who most certainly would like to keep us divided.  Our European Union, Paneuropa , is a wonderful achievement, a testament to the endurance and strength of great Europe.

As like our beloved cousins in the Netherlands I dream of a day when our constitutional monarchy, Hungary's proudest and oldest traditional government, of the people, for the people and by the people, with all of the great and wondrous traditions, multifaceted cultural and religious , the arts, music and education, the doors and windows open to the world, we are Hungary, we are stable, we are free.  What a better place to visit, invest, build, and work than this ancient land, our ancient land, the kingdom of Hungary.

Yours,

George
